Best Buzzbait Colors for Largemouth Bass Fishing

Stick to basics when selecting buzzbait colors. Shad, bluegill, baitfishand crawfish colors usually work best.

Go with darker colors in water with little light penetration such as muddy or stained water, and cloudy or windy days. Go with light colors such as white or silver in water with more light penetration - i.e. clear water, sunny or calm days, etc.

Chartreuse, chartreuse and white or firetiger are especially good in stained water or in clear water on overcast days.

Buzzbait skirts with reflective finishes like chrome, gold, metallic blue, etc. simulate baitfish well on real sunny days, but quickly lose their flash when clouds roll in. On overcast days, avoid reflective colors and switch to more matte finish baitfish colors.

Use natural colors for big bass. Big have bass learned from being caught not to react to something unnatural, which is why natural looking baits will usually produce bigger bass.

Color can also be something to consider after you find the bass. If they're following the lure, tapping it, or just not hitting it and you tried different presentations, try a different color of the same lure.
